Contributing and being involved in this class will have substantial influence in future English classes and all classes no matter what the subject.
I have discovered that my previous classes in High School served only as minimal effort and upon entering college the rules have been amplified and are crucial to a timely completion of your classes and ultimately college. Feedback was critical and valued. As a former AP Lang student, I feel that this class has been very beneficial for me in that it has allowed me to apply the techniques and strategies I learned last year toward more relevant subjects.
Having the freedom of choosing topics to write about for our various essays made this class more enjoyable than the other English classes that I have taken. AP Lang focused heavily on the techniques of writing solid essays, but instead of writing about useful topics, we analyzed the short stories provided on the exams. Writing a personal narrative essay was very helpful in my college application process and allowed me to employ the same kind of strategies that I learned in class into my college essays. Likewise, creating a cover letter taught me many useful strategies that I will definitely put to use when it comes time for me to submit an official cover letter to a company. Throughout this semester, I have made many great achievements and improved my writing skills drastically.
This class has helped me improve my writing skills with grammar and methods for writing. I have also learned what I need to improve on, which includes effectively using quotes and writing narrative pieces. Many of the assignments in this portfolio are argumentative; I believe this style of writing is best for me. Overall, these assignments are the best I have written this semester. I think this unit was great and in all honesty should have been longer. We covered so many important topics that should be discussed with High School students to prepare them for the future.
The discussions that we had in class were also another very helpful tool that we should have had more of during the unit. I definitely had some preferences on the books that we read this semester. In the years since I entered school, to the moment that my cap left my hand, I had grown into an entirely new version of myself. The freedom of college in combination with the guidance of so many teachers had led me to turn every negative aspect of myself into something new. With the pride I had gained in being part of something bigger, I became diligent and wholly interested in my studies. I had met so many interesting people who helped me break from my shell, and in doing so I had met some of the greatest friends I have ever had.
However, in the scale of my life, these events are of little importance to me in everyday life. After speaking with Rachel Gionta it seemed right to show that I have more to offer Temple University than just the criteria that I meet, and ask for a reconsideration for a university scholarship. Not only do I meet the criteria with my cumulative GPA of 4. Temple seems like the only university I can truly identify with. Its urban persona mixed with multiple opportunities to better myself through clubs and volunteer work is perfect for my outgoing and generous personality. Although I cannot picture myself at any other college, I have learned to prioritize my life in regards to my.
I would say that the author did a good job on writing the body paragraphs. But the card companies have a leg up on the student groups: swag, and lots of it. In exchange for filling out a credit card application, students can get free stuff ranging from T-shirts to mugs and pizzas. However, at the end of the excerpt she goes off topic and talks about something else. As I am a writer, I was prepared to bull crap my entire way through the semester since writing papers that are worthy of an A is easy.
This is what I was prepared for, and this is what I did. This semester helped me master the art of speaking without saying anything, or in this case, writing without saying anything. Other than that, the class has not greatly affected my english. The main purpose of a narrative is to express yourself, but I also had to keep in mind that I had an audience as well. In addition to writing for purpose, I was also able to use evidence to form and support arguments in a research paper. It required supporting evidence from three academic journals, along with my own opionion which I used to support my thesis and back argumentative points.
